Marport Canada Inc. was established in July, 2003. Through a series of transactions over the past 3 years it has acquired majority ownership in all operating subsidiaries.
The predecessor companies consisted of Marport ehf, a marine sales and service company established in 1996 in Iceland; and Marport Stout Inc. - an acoustic product manufacturing operation located in the USA that was acquired in September, 2002.
Marport Canada was established by Karl Kenny and Anthony Paul to broaden Marport’s product line and drive profitable growth into new markets. They then assembled an experienced development team and funded research and development for a new series of products.
The management team have identified a series of acoustic technologies and products that could be successfully exploited not only in the commercial fisheries market but also in ocean science, offshore energy and maritime defence. Marport is now enhancing its research and development efforts in the areas of broadband acoustics, software defined radio technology, 3D sonar, seabed mapping/profiling and advanced visualization software.
