Marport's SmartCatch™ sensors are based on our Software Defined Acoustic Technology Platform. This new technology enables a sensor to be reconfigured to perform several functions. This technology also provides fast update rates and an unmatched battery life.

Marport sensors are the toughest and most versatile in the industry. Our sensors are encased in highly visible, shock absorbent housing with a built in handle for ease of use.

The Height Sensor is usually installed on the headrope or footrope and measures the distance from the sensor to the bottom. When used with the depth sensor option, it is an excellent tool for positioning the net in the water; this is a very useful feature for twin and triple rig nets. Compatible with Scanmar HC4-HT60.

The Bottom Contact Sensor monitors if the trawl is on or off the bottom and enables the trawl to be trimmed for proper balance. This sensor is recommended for bottom trawling. It can also be used to prove compliance in fisheries where bottom trawling is prohibited.

The Rip Sensor will alert the bridge when the belly of the trawl is torn. Unless you have this sensor, you may not know you are losing fish, because other net monitoring devices usually miss this problem. Compatible with Scanmar HC4-R.

The Catch Sensor measures the fill rate of the trawl and indicates when the cod end is full, so the catch can be hauled in, thus eliminating problems associated with overfilling the trawl. This sensor dramatically increases fishing efficiency. Up to four of these Catch Sensors can be used on the cod end. Compatible with Scanmar's HC4-M and HC4-20/M sensors.

The Hybrid Catch Sensor’s unique dual frequency abilities greatly increase signal detection and enable a continuous information link to the trawl. This sensor measures the fill rate of the trawl and indicates when the cod end is full, so the catch can be hauled, thus eliminating problems associated with overfilling the trawl. This sensor dramatically increases fishing efficiency. Up to four of these Catch Sensors can be used on the cod end.

The Temperature Sensor measures temperature around the trawl to determine if conditions are favorable for targeted fish species. The Depth Sensor measures trawl depth, and the descent and ascent rate of the net.

The dual purpose Depth/Temperature Sensor combines the individual features of the Depth and Temperature Sensors, allowing a vessel to quickly find the best environment and depth for precise fishing. Compatible with Scanmar HC4-D/600/1200/1800, HC4-T, HC4-20/T sensors.

The Distance Sensor measures the distance and stability between the trawl doors during shooting, trawling and hauling operations. The doors need not be aligned precisely to get a reading. Optional features enable measurement of distance, depth and temperature. These Marport sensor bodies are designed to fit into industry standard door pockets. Compatible with Scanmar HC4-DA144.

The Distance Sensor measures the distance and stability between the trawl doors during shooting, trawling and hauling operations. Optional features enable one sensor to measure distance, depth and temperature in one unit. Marport’s 110 kHz Master-Slave communication frequency sensors are well suited for all types of fishing. These Marport sensor bodies are designed to fit into industry standard door pockets. Compatiable with Scanmar HC4-A110.

The Door Angle Sensor measures the roll and pitch angle of the trawl doors. The sensor monitors door stability and helps ensure the doors are in alignment and that the correct sweep angle and bottom contact are achieved.

The 3N1 Sensor is so named because it combines the features of 3 individual sensors: the Grid Sensor, the Trawl Speed Sensor and the Symmetry Sensor. The Grid Sensor function measures grid angle and water flow through the trawl. When placed on the grid at the back of the cod end, the sensor indicates the cod end filling rate. The Trawl Speed Sensor function measures water flow through the trawl opening and tunnel so that the true trawl speed may be adjusted based upon prevailing currents and tides. The Symmetry Sensor function measures the direction and strength of cross currents entering the trawl. Cross current effects can then be reduced to zero by adjusting the warp lengths, thereby ensuring optimal trawl performance. The 3N1 is a very effective multi-functional sensor for twin-rigged and pair trawls. Compatible with Scanmar HC4-TSS (trawl speed), HC4-SY (symmetry) and HC4-GS (grid).

The Hydrophone detects signals from the trawl sensors. For full coverage in all weather conditions, it is recommended that two hydrophones are used, one to starboard and one to port. The hydrophone can be hull mounted and is available for towed version with paravane. Compatible with Scanmar trawl hydrophone.
